Medical Arts pharmacists administer MORE than just flu shots

Most people know we give flu shots but may not know we administer other vaccines including a number of “travel vaccines.”

Vaccine Preventable Diseases you can be immunized for:

  • Shingles, spreads person to person through direct contact with fluid from the rash blisters caused by shingles
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV), spreads person to person through sexually intimate, skin to skin contact
  • Hepatitis A, spreads person to person by putting something in the mouth that has been contaminated with the stool of an infected person, often due to poor sanitary conditions
  • Hepatitis B, spreads person to person via blood, semen, or other body fluids
  • Japanese Encephalitis, spreads to people from mosquito bites
  • Pneumococcal Infection, spreads person to person through coughing and sneezing
  • Rabies, spreads to people from saliva of infected animal
  • Typhoid, spreads to people from contaminated food or water
  • Chickenpox, spreads person to person through contact with blisters of infected person or by coughing and sneezing
  • H. Influenza Type B, spreads person to person through coughing and sneezing
  • Meningitis, spreads person to person through close (household) contact with infected person, or direct contact with person’s saliva

Please note: Some of these vaccines require a prescription from your doctor but some do not. You can ask a Medical Arts pharmacist for more details.
